Tour Musings and Little Bug things

Hello hello!

We are two shows away from our glorious tour coming to an end. The last two shows are going to be really sweet. Tuesday night Brie Neilson, Corinna Rose and I are taking over Casa Del Popolo in Montreal and playing with most if not all of our respective backing bands. Plus we’ll be jumping in to sing with each other during our individual sets. Thursday we are back at the legendary Black Sheep Inn appearing as a trio one last time to open for the incredible Mark Berube. It’s going to be heaps of fun–there will be a trumpet, a banjo, and a kazoo!

I’m going to be spending the rest of May getting ready to head into the studio and then recording, and also prepping and starting to book the Fall tour I’ll be doing to support the new record. Corinna Rose and I will be touring together again come September. Hooray!

If you’ve caught a set on this Spring tour then you’ll have gotten a taste of some of the new material that’s going on the record. I am really really excited about this. We’re recording at The Treatment Room again with Gilles Castilloux manning the boards. Daniel Ledwell, producer and musician extraordinaire behind Jenn Grant’s latest Juno nominated album is at the helm of the project as the producer. This one is going to be really really special. I’ve been working up to it for the past few years and the songs and the band are ready.

For more info on the album and to help push it along or pre-order follow this magical link (that is not an actual link) to the fundraiser and info page:

To those wonderful folks who have already pitched in, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am immensely grateful and I promise to deliver an album you will love to pieces.

Summer is just around the bend! See you out there friends : )

Et Voila! We are off.

Well shoot! It seems in my usual fashion I left for tour in a hurry. It’s the packing and repacking that always gets me in the end, especially when the weather’s been like it has and I’ve got to pack Spring Coats AND Winter coats for when we get to those Alberta Mountains.

Corinna Rose and I spent the first week of the tour running around Toronto playing multiple showcases for Canadian Music Week. We met some terrifically talented musicians and had loads of fun playing as a trio with Simon Honeyman. It’s magic on that stage when those two are both up there with me.

We said goodbye to Simon yesterday and now we’ve got two days off in Toronto before we get on the train bound for Winnipeg. I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been working on some new cover tunes for the train folk. They won’t know what hit’em!

All the tour dates are posted here, below the music player, and I sure hope you’ll come out to a show if we’re in your home town.

Miss Rose and I have also just confirmed that we’ll both be playing at the All Folk’d Up Festival this July in Montmartre, SK. This year’s lineup is looking pretty sweet! Can’t wait! We’re going to start booking a little Saskatchewan tour around then to make up for missing it on this trip.

Voila c’est tout! More updates soon.

Spring tour dates, new website tweaks, and warm weather

Hello lovelies,

It was a balmy 14 degrees celsius here in Halifax today. Nice that my last day in Nova Scotia before I hit the road again is such a lovely one.

I’m heading back to Montreal tomorrow for 10 days to do some mega-rehearsing for multiple projects and then Simon Honeyman, Corinna Rose and I are headed to Toronto to showcase at Canadian Music Week (woo!). It’s also the tour kick-off for Corinna and I (if only we could take Simon with us, but someone has to run the bookstore!).

I’ve got a super show in Montreal that I’m really looking forward to. On March 13th I’m playing the Upstairs Jazz Bar with Roxanne Potvin and Erin Costelo. If you’ve never seen either of them play you must come. They are both fantastic, highly accomplished song-writers. I mean it.

You may also have noticed I now have a little widget to the right here that plays my music and allows you to purchase it too if you are so inclined. Exciting! Take that myspace! Below that is another handy little widget where I’ll be posting all my tour and show dates henceforth. This was installed by my amazing web designer friend Sean Yeomans. He is great.

Happy March everyone!
